Clays as Adsorbents of Tartrazine: A Sustainable Application

Abstract
The adsorption of tartrazine (T) by montmorillonite (M) and sepiolite (S) is studied in this work. Results show a strong interaction between clays and the colorants because of the cationic exchange and the realignments of the organic molecule when the adsorption takes place. Ultrasound technique (US) improves the colorant adsorption by the clays.
