Abstract

The N2 method is simple nonlinear method for the seismic performance evaluation of structures. The method combines the nonlinear static (pushover) analysis and the response spectrum approach. The method yields results of reasonable accuracy if the structure oscillates predominantly in the first mode By reversing the analysis process, the method can be used as a tool for the implementation of the direct displacement-based design approach.
