This paper aims to estimate the amount of waste materials for photovoltaic (PV) installations in Crete Island. Crete is the largest Greek island and constitutes the largest autonomous power system in Greece. The analysis includes the impact of the basic components of a PV system: PV panels, PV mounting system, cables, and inverters. The results show that significant amounts of waste materials will be produced in the period 2030-2038. Moreover, this study generalizes the results for the entire Greek territory.
