Abstract

Data mining has been used extensively in many fields like retail, e-business, marketing, etc. and has provided pioneering results. This paper presents the application of data mining in health care. The paper compares data mining with traditional statistics, gives some advantages of automated data systems, enumerates the steps involved in data mining process. A growing number of data mining applications in health care have been discussed in this paper. Also the issues and challenges faced by data mining in health care are presented.
