A Study on adolescent sexual violence behavior in Korea society

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among pornography media contact, aggression, and adolescent’s sexual violence perpetration , and suggesting social welfare intervention methods for juvenile sexual offenders. This study attempts to find the mediating effects of aggression to pornography media contact on adolescent’s sexual violence perpetration. Data were gathered though questionnaires surveying 1,601 adolescents living in the metropolitan area(Seoul and Kyeonggi province in Korea). In data analysis process, we used SPSS 21.0 for the mediation effect of conversational satisfaction and its significance, and the results are following. First, approximately 9.5% of the adolescent responded that they had tried of sexual violence behavior in the past year. Second, this study verifies that violent sexual explicit materials associated with increasing the level of sexual violence. Third, pornography media contact was positively related to aggression. Based on these outcomes, we suggest the importance and necessity of improved approach about pornography media contact as way to reduce adolescent’s sexual violence behavior and proposed social work-based intervention program for enhancing this.
