Abstract

An iteration-free fractal coding for still colour image compression is proposed using simulated annealing. As the proposed method uses the synthetic code book, it reduces the coding process time and minimizes intensive computations. The proposed technique utilizes the SA, which greatly decreases the search complexity of matching between range block and domain block. Parameters such as image quality, compression ratio and coding time are analyzed. It is observed that the proposed method achieves excellent performance in image quality with very low bit rate.
