In a business context, the successful introduction of data mining requires using data mining techniques to address a real business challenge. For companies that are just getting started with analytical enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management, integrating data mining can be a daunting task. In this paper we discussed how the proof of concept should create a solid business case for further integration of data mining into the company’s marketing, sales, and customer-support operations using ERP. Furthermore, current trends indicate that more companies implementing Enterprise Resource Planning systems could further benefit in using data mining techniques. Integrating a data mining technique alongside these two added value services can proof to be an optimum solution in understanding a company’s data.
